Time flies when your having fun - Wordless Wednesday (not so much)

I keep asking myself where the last 18 months have gone. On Monday I turned 24, and J turned 18 months. A year and a half.. A year and a half - almost 2 .... BAH! I try to think back to what my life was life before him and I can't..it's like my entire life started the day he was born.

You have no idea what you really mean to me. You are my sunshine, my light. My happy thought.
I love you with every fibre of my being. You are my whole life.

I love you sweetheart.

Love mum.

CJ's BUTTer review

Awhile back I won a tube of CJ's BUTTer from a facebook giveaway and let me tell you, I was SO excited to try it out! I have read some awesome reviews of this product, and wanted to try it out for myself. I chose the Love Spell scent and...wow.. it smells devine!! The day that I got it, we were leaving for holidays, so before we left I changed J and applied the BUTTer to him bum. We traveled from Vancouver to Princeton B.C. and stopped to change J. As I took off his diaper I noticed a terrible 'blister' like rash on his scrotum. The diaper wasn't terribly wet so I knew it wasn't from being in a super wet diaper for 3 hours. The only thing I could think of was that we had changed his bum cream.

So once I changed him I didn't put anymore on. I reverted back to using my normal diaper cream and within two changes it had cleared up.
I was so sad that he had a reaction to it, as I was looking forward to writing a wonderful review for CJ's.

I had mentioned to a couple of my facebook friends what had happened and my FB friend L said she had contacted CJ to let her know that this happened to us and to get in touch with her. So I did!

First off, let me say that CJ's has some WONDERFUL customer service. We spoke about how J could be allergic to the coconut oil in their regular formula or it could possibly be the scent. So with that being said, I was offered to try the new Vegan formula of the BUTTer. Of course at this time the Canada Post strike was going on so I knew I was going to have to wait a bit, but it was ALL worth the wait.

CJ sent me a full size jar (4 oz) of the new Vegan formula. I'll have to get a list of ingredients but I know there is no coconut oil in it!

The day that I received this, I tried it out right away! This formula is creamier than the Original BUTTer, I find, and isn't 'oily'. It glides on so smoothly and is just nice to the touch.

J had a slight diaper rash (teething) so I wanted to see if it cleared it up.. and you know what.. after ONE application J's bum was clear of red!! I was so happy, that this formula didn't irritate his bum and that it cleared up the existing rash.

Along with my 4oz jar, CJ also sent me a sample of the original BUTTer, with no scent to it. Due to J's reaction I wanted to see if it was indeed the oil in the formula or if it was the scent. I applied the original non scented to his bum and at the next diaper change we had a rash, thus it must be the oil (which is fine by me, cause I LOVE this stuff for myself lol)

Taken from CJ's website:

What is CJ’s BUTTer™?

Originally designed as an all-natural, less expensive alternative to the ointments you find on a typical grocery store shelf, our formula is unscented AND cloth diaper friendly. (None of our customers have had any staining or repelling issues.) CJ’s BUTTer™ is soothing for baby and also aids in the easy, smooth clean-up of dirty diapers.

Some other uses for CJ’s BUTTer™…

Called a”A Miracle in a Tube” by some,  CJ’s BUTTer™ has been used on adults and children to help relieve …

  • eczema

  •  rashes

  • dry/chapped skin

  • rug burns (sore ‘crawler’ knees)

  •   mechanics’ hands and cuticles

  • hang nails

  • rub a small amount on your hands and use as a leave-in conditioner for your curls

More uses for CJ’s BUTTer™ include:

  • Use it for black/mixed hair!!  Leaves hair soft, shiny and helps alleviate those ‘owies’ when trying to separate locks!

  • Melt a dollop under running bath water for a relaxing, soothing, and anti-inflammatory soak–provides relief for post-partum soreness and hemorrhoids!

  • Provides protection against windburned cheeks/face and helps to relieve windburn!

  • Promotes healing and provides a non-stick barrier when used after a circumcision.

Give it a try…we’re sure you’ll love it!

Let me just say that I am in love with the BUTTer and so is C. J's little bum is also in love as he has no more teething rash on his bum. My over rating if I were to give it out of 5 stars would be 5/5 . This is just an awesome product and I look forward to trying her other products as well.

If you would like to purchase your own CJ's products check out their website for details: http://www.cjsuniqueboutique.com/

Also be sure to check out their FB page too!: http://www.facebook.com/#!/cjsewingroom

I want to thank CJ for sending me the samples and for being so gosh darn nice!! It's hard to find awesome customer service these days, and hers was top notch! J would also like to thank you!!

Please note that I was in no way compensated for this review. I was however sent a sample of the above mentioned product(s) to do an adequate review. No monies were ever exchanged. AppleCheeks Review

On my journey through cloth diapering I have come across some brands that I really really wanted to try, but couldn't due to lack of funds. I'll admit most of my diaper stash I have won through blog and faceboook giveaways. There was one Canadian brand that I was DYING to try, but could fork out the 29.00 for the little bundle. After entering numerous giveaway for this diaper and never winning, I finally had won a diaper and insert!!

My next review is on the Canadian owned and operated AppleCheeks!!

I received a Cherry Tomato envelope cover and insert. (A little Bundle) I was so excited when I got it I washed it up right away and put it to work! Even after one wash it held up to J's heavy wetting ways!

Cherry Tomato - size 2

My first impression of this diaper, was that I loved how soft the cover was. The rounded tabs are esthetically pleasing and I really like the snap placement.  I also really liked the front elastic. I got a great fit on J and he still has room to grow into it. (he's at 30lbs now)

This is one of the only diapers that do not leave red marks on J. I have a few brands that do and I hate it, but the AppleCheeks diaper has soft elastic and no red marks are left behind!! The pocket opening is different from all my other diapers and I can't really say how I feel about it. I'm sort of 50/50. It a generous size (hubby can stuff this one with no issues) and there is no chance that the insert could poke out a little at the front or back. But I have left the insert in and it hasn't agitated out in the wash, thus making me wash it again with the next diaper load.

Now when it comes to the insert, I have to say that I am in LOVE with them! They are super super soft and VERY absorbent! The inserts are made of 70% Viscose from Bamboo and 30% Organic Cotton. (and may I note that they are also MADE in Canada!) You can either stuff the pocket or you can simply lay the insert on top of the cover and if the cover isn't soiled you can reuse it!

Overall, I really really like this diaper. I am happy to say that it is made in Canada which it a plus for me. I just like supporting Canadian companies. The only down side is that they are a little expensive. But again you get what you pay for. This is a quality diaper so for most it's totally worth it. I wish I had more and maybe in the future I will get a few more. I really love their new prints that just came out so I am saving to purchase one of them.

I don't have any action shots of this diaper as J will not sit still. I will try to get some and post them at a later time. The fit really is wonderful, and it looks SO cute on his little bum.

If you want to purchase your very own AppleCheeks cloth diaper check them out here: http://applecheeks.com/shop/home.php
A cover retails for about $20.00 CAD and a Little Bundle for $29.00. They also have packages and other great AppleCheeks products. Wet bags, nursing pads, liners, booster, and cleaning solution. Be sure to take a good look at their website!

Also be sure to LIKE them on Facebook. They do some awesome giveaways every now and then, and also run great contests! http://www.facebook.com/#!/AppleCheeksDiapers\

Rockin out with Rockin Green - Giveaway!

Let's do the very first giveaway on my little blog!!

Up for grabs is 3 samples of Classic Rock (or Soft Rock) in your choice of scents. (excluding the new Earth, Wind, Orchid)

When I first started cloth diapering, I had no idea that RnG existed. I by fluke won a bag of their Orangevana (now discontinued) and I was so excited to try it out.

When I had the chance to try it, I LOVED it. There were no more stink issues and all my diapers came out clean. I thought I would try cleaning C's work clothes with it as well. Let me just say that I am SO SO happy that they made HIS..dirty, smelly work clothes come out smelling fresh!! Which didn't happen before. There was still a faint smell of..whatever it was hehe.
Anyways, I'm not going to go into a huge review, so let's get on with the giveaway!!

Busy busy buzzing bee...

What a week this is going to be! First off, I'd like to say Hi to all my new followers! I am so very excited to link up with blog hops and meet other blogger mums!! Secondly - Summer is FINALLY here in Vancouver! Woohoo!!

I am a summer baby. Birthday is two weeks away today - which means J is going to be a year and a half in two very short weeks. I also have holidays coming up.. that's exciting!!

So this week is going to be a a very busy week. Monday and Tuesday are write offs for me. I don't work, but I do need to get housework done and spend some time in the beautiful sunshine with J! Wednesday I work, Thursday I work, Friday we have a rehearsal for J, as he is a ring bearer at my friends wedding on Saturday. Then Saturday...I work 11-3, need to be out in Whiterock for 4 so J can get his photo's taken with the wedding party (that gives me literally 30 minutes to get there!) Then we get to watch our friends say their vows and become husband and wife. And yes I will cry! And then Sunday I have to work..

So, now that I'm looking at it all typed down.. it doesn't seem THAT bad... but I don't like rushing.. I need time to get ready and I HATE to be late..and I don't like being rushed.. did I already say that??
Thankfully after the week is done, I can relax slightly - then I get to enjoy my birthday.... and then holidays... so more to come!

Much love

A day with Daddy

So today was SUPER gorgeous out in Vancouver. Lucky me it was the ONE day out of the month that I have to work a full 8 hours. POO POO! So I started work at 10:00 and was worked till 6:00. C and J were at home just the two of them. I didn't call at all (which is odd as I always call...but today I just let them be)

C posted on FB that he took J downtown, which is surprising as C does not like going into the heart of the city. So apparently they took the Skytrain down to Waterfront and walked through the Jazz festival that was going on, then went past Science World and C stopped for some McPukes. J needed a diaper change so C knew he would be going into the 'family' washroom. He explained the whole ordeal to me "I took him in the bathroom, and it WREAKED -- like someone had just done a number two." He told me that he realized it wasn't a backed up toilet or like someone DIDN'T flush.. it was all the disposable diapers in the garbage! EEEYUCK! I was laughing pretty hard, as C wasn't totally on board when we decided to make the switch. Anywhoo..he told me that as he was changing J into his comfy cloth diaper he thought to himself "Uhg...stupid disposable diapers.." (That's the nice-er version of what he said hehe)

After he told me I asked him why he thought that.."Well at least our cloth doesn't stink like -- that!"

Ahh! I love you C! Thank you for letting me embark into the cloth diapering world and THANK YOU for finally understanding!
